Kastoria is located in Western Macedonia, 703 metres above sea level and is the capital of the prefecture Kastoria. It is 190 klm away from Thessaloniki(2 hours and quarter) and its population is 13387 inhabitants. The thing that makes Kastoria special is that it is surrounded by a lake and it is connected to the mainland by a strip of land giving the impression of an island.
Besides the lake, Kastoria is known for its mansions and for the large number of Byzantine churches which are still maintained. If you visit Kastoria you will have the opportunity to see its aquarium which is the largest freshwater aquarium at Valkania. One more sightseeing of the town is the cave of the dragon where someone can admire stalactites in a path of 300 metres. Finally, Kastoria is known for its furs.
