Metsovo is is a small town situated 1160 metres above sea level on the mountainside of Pindos. It is approximately 150 klm from Thessaloniki(1 hour and 45 minutes). It has a population of 3195 inhabitants (predominantly vlach) who are primarily employed in farming and agriculture and varius fork arts.
Metsovo is one of Greece’s most traditional cities, with period mansions and cobblestone streets, and the town’s museums and cultural centers allow you to explore much of its rich history. Visiting Metsovo may feel like a trip back in time with many still adopting to wear traditional clothes. The town is a popular destination for skiing during the Winter months.
Last but certainly not least, Metsovo is famous for its wine and dairy products.
