It was founded in the first half of the 10th century. The monastery was ransacked several times and twice it was totally destroyed. It is celebrated on the taking of Jesus Christ.
Its most important relics are a large slice of the scene of Napoleon, and the cross of Pulcheria. The library has over 6,000 books.
