The monastery was founded in the 10th century by Empress Pulcheria, Constantine VII the Porphyrogenitus and Romanos the Lekapenos. It is Located between Daphne and Karyes.
The dome of the monastery has fresques inspired by Bible, and also on a parapet, there is a relief from the monastery. The library contains 409 manuscripts. In addition there are seven chapels inside of it. The Xeropotamou Monastery is celebrated on March 9.
