Megali Panaghia is a large mountain village of exceptional beauty in Northern Halkidiki. It is located 80 km away from Thessaloniki and it has 3,500 inhabitants. The location of Megali Panaghia is breathtaking as it is surrounded by dense hills. In the region, there are many churches and chapels, with the most important being the Assumption church which is located two kilometers away from the village known as Panagiouda. The construction of the church dates back to 1007 AD and it is located at the highest point of the settlement.
