One of the most interesting museums that you can visit in Halkidiki is the Anthropological Museum of Petralona. Back in 1979 the museum opened its gates for the first time. Visitors are able to have a complete insight of the prehistorical period in Greece. You are able to admire findings from the famous Cave of Petralona but the most outstanding exhibits in the museum remains as of today the a replica of the mausoleum of Archanthropus Europeus Petraloniensis. Many of the exhibits are aged million of years. Most of the tools that are located in the museum and are made from stone and bones were found in the area of Nea Triglia in Halkidiki.
